EDISON, NJ - The NCC men's basketball team moved into second place in Region XIX with a 62-45 victory over Middlesex County College on Tuesday evening.
The Spartans victory, coupled with Camden's loss at Gloucester, moved NCC into sole possession of second place in Region XIX with a 16-5 record.
"Definitely a hard-fought victory tonight," exclaimed Head Coach Kevin Foley, "Middlesex came out and really took us out of our game with their ball control offense ... it reminded me of NC State vs. Houston back in the 1983 national championship game ... fortunately for us there was no Lorenzo Charles and we were able to knock down some shots and get out of here with a victory."
Josh Vargas led NCC with 14 points,
Ralph Padilla added 13 points and 10 rebounds and
Al Blount added 10 points.
The Spartans (19-8 overall ) host conference leader Passiac County Community College on Thursday at 8pm in their regular season finale.
