BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The NCC men's basketball team used a 9-0 run over the last 1:30 of the game to earn an 89-81 victory over Brookdale Community College in Region XIX action on Saturday.

Al Blount scored 22 points, including a 12 for 14 performance from the charity stripe, and Ike Robinson added 29 points and 11 rebounds as the Spartans knocked off the Region's hottest team.

"This is big win for us," echoed Head Coach Kevin Foley, "especially coming off our loss to Gloucester ... Brookdale has been on fire for the past month, so for us to get this win with the stretch of games we have coming up was crucial."

The Spartans, now 14-8 overall and 11-5 in Region XIX, are fighting for one of the top 4 seeds in the Region, but have a gauntlet of games remaining, including matchups with the top two teams in the Region; Passaic and Camden.  "Bottom line, we control our own destiny, we don't have to rely on anyone else," remarked freshman Tyvon Efferson (8 points, 11 rebounds).

NCC heads to Sussex County Community College on Monday to face the Skylanders in a make-up game.

Brookdale falls to 15-8 overall and 12-6 in Region XIX.
