MAYS LANDING, NJ - The NCC women's basketball team returned to action for the first time since December 22nd and defeated Atlantic Cape Community College 76-64 on Saturday afternoon, in Region XIX action.
Dee Brown scored 20 points and had 7steals as Northampton battled foul trouble to earn their 11th conference victory of the season.
NCC led 39-28 at halftime, but the Buccaneers got within 3 at 58-55 in the second half, before the Spartans were able to pull away for the victory.
"Typical first game back after break," lamented Head Coach
Art Wolfe, "definitely some rust, but overall the girls battled through some adversity and earned a tough road victory."
Alyssa Gibson added 17 points and 6 assists, while
Halie Cintron finished with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.
The win moves the 10th ranked Spartans to 12-3 overall and 11-1 in Region XIX.
Atlantic Cape falls to 9-7 overall and 8-6 in conference play.
NCC returns to the hardwood on Tuesday when they travel to Camden County College.
