BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team used a late second half run to down Tompkins Cortland Community College, 70-54, on Saturday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center, and improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Spartans, who led 37-27 at halftime, saw the Panthers claw back in the second half and ultimately take a 43-42 lead with under 10 minutes remaining in the contest. Fueled by sophomore
Jaylonn Tullis (19 point, 7 rebounds), Northampton responded with an 8-0 run to take a 50-43 advantage and never looked back in earning in the 16 point victory.
"I thought we lost our focus a little right after halftime," remarked Head Coach Kevin Foley, "but to our guys credt they regained their composure after TC3 took the lead and really clamped down on the defensive end."
Seth Stoudt added 13 points and
Andrew Miller (8 rebounds) had 12 points for Northampton.
The Spartans, now 2-0, return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Luzerne County Community College to open Region XIX and conference play.
Tompkins-Cortland (1-2) was led by Devin Redden's 24 points.
