Spartans Open Conference Play with Victory

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team opened conference play with a convincing 87-50 victory over Luzerne County Community College on Tuesday evening.

Playing their first game as a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC), the Spartans jumped out to a 43-28 halftime advantage and then coasted to the 37 point victory.

Andrew Miller scored 20 points (3 of 6 from 3-point range) and Jaylonn Tullis added 20 points and 6 rebounds to lead the Spartans.

"Overall a very solid effort tonight," remarked 4th year mentor Kevin Foley, "we really shot the ball well tonight (12 of 19 from behind the arc) and I thought the guys handled the road atmosphere very well."

Zach Hankerson added 12 points as Northampton improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in Region XIX / EPAC.

Luzerne falls to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Nothampton, ranked 10th in the country in the latest NJCAA national poll, is now off until November 20th when they travel to defending Region XIX champion Brookdale Community College.
