BINGHAMTON, NY - Leading 55-42 with 10 minutes to play, the Northampton men's basketball team could only muster 12 more points as the Hornets of Broome Community College rallied for a 71-67 upset victory on Tuesday evening at the Dan Minch Convocation Center in Binghamton.
The Spartans shot 25 of 58 from the field, but only managed to hit 5 of 19 3-pointers and 12 of 22 shots from the charity stripe.
"Very disappointing night to say the least," commented Head Coach Kevin Foley, "I'm really at a loss for words, we simply did not execute and we allowed ourselves to get complacent and it cost us."
NCC, which received votes in the latest NJCAA Division III national poll, falls to 4-2 overall (2-0 EPAC).
The Spartans return to action on Saturday at the Arthur L. Scott Center when they host Harrisburg Area Community College in a conference tilt at 3pm.
Broome improves to 2-8 with the victory.
