Roadrunners Top Spartans in Double Overtime

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Ralph Padilla's coast to coast buzzer beater sent the game to overtime, but Gloucester recovered and eventually topped the Spartans, 82-77, in double overtime in Region XIX action on Tuesday night at the Spartan Center Arena.

Padilla, who finished with a team-high 24 points and 10 rebounds, tied the game at 65 with his full-court dash.  The teams then traded baskets in the first overtime and remained tied at 71 entering the second extra stanza.

The Roadrunners were able to pull away in the second overtime, sending the Spartans to their 8th loss this season by 8 points, or less.

"No real words to describe how I feel," remarked Head Coach Kevin Foley, "I thought Ralph played one of the best games of his career at NCC, but as a team we still just can't find that collective will to win ... 8 losses by 8 points or less, that stat kinda says it all, we have been very competitive, but we just have not made the big plays in clutch time to win those games."

NCC falls to 8-14 overall and 7-12 in Region XIX.

Gloucester improves to 8-15 overall and 8-10 in Region play.

The Spartans host nationally-ranked Brookdale Community College (17-2) on Thursday at 8pm.
