Union County Rallies for Victory over Spartans

CRANFORD, NJ - Trailing by 11 points with ten minutes remaining in the game, Union County College methodically worked their way back into the contest and rallied for an 82-76 victory over Northampton on Thursday evening.

Union tied the game with 2 minutes remaining and then pulled away for the victory, improving their record to 10-8 overall and 8-4 in Region XIX.

"I feel good about our effort," stated Head Coach Kevin Foley, "but we are really struggling to close out games ... the last two contests we have had solid second half leads and just can't make that one big shot or defensive stop to put us over the top."

Dontae Davis scored 22 points to lead NCC, while Tyler Krchnavi hauled down a team-high 11 rebounds.  Easton graduates Zack Hankerson and Andrew Miller each scored 14 points.

Northampton, which has dropped 5 consecutive games, falls to 10-7 overall and remains 6-1 in league play.

The Spartans host Delaware County Community College on Saturday at 2pm in a matchup of the top two teams in the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC).
