Men's Basketball Falls in Championship Game

SYRACUSE, NY - Anne Arundel Community College (MD) used a strong second half to put away the Northampton men's basketball team and win the championship tilt at the Onondaga Community College Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

The Spartans trailed by two at the half, 22-20, but Anne Arundel went on a run early in the second half to take a 32-24 lead.  NCC never could get closer than 3 the rest of the way (51-48) as Anne Arundel asserted themselves on the glass the last 8 minutes of the contest.

"Very solid effort for the first 20 minutes," stated Head Coach Mike Kaminski, "but we struggled with our consistency in the second half, especially on the defensive glass.  As I said yesterday after the game, the key to our success will be our ability to stay focused for 40 minutes and sustain the energy and effort that we did against Onondaga ... and that is the responsibility of me and my staff as we prepare to enter Region play this weekend."

Brent Maron and RJ Fletcher earned All-Tournament honors for Northampton, which returns to action on Saturday November 9th at Johnson College in Scranton, PA.
