Men's Basketball Falls to Division II Mercer

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Mercer County Community College, last season's Region XIX Division II runner-up, snapped Northampton's 17 game home winning streak with an 80-66 victory on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center.

The Vikings used a 17-2 run late in the first half to take a 46-31 lead into the locker room at halftime and NCC never got closer than 12 points in the second half.

"Mercer is very well coached and executed extremely well on the offensive end," commented Head Coach Mike Kaminski, "they are a tough, physical team and we did not match their intensity ... our guys need to realize that to be successful in this Region, we need to execute and be physically and mentally tough for 40+ minutes each night."

Tyler Krchnavi had 8 points and 8 rebounds and Shai-Cree Tempson scored a season-high 14 to pace NCC.

The Spartans, who had not lost at home since February 11, 2012, fall to 8-4 overall.

Mercer County Community College improves to 7-4 overall.

Northampton is scheduled to host Delaware County Community College at 2pm on Saturday, however severe weather is predicted for the area so stay tuned to www.nccspartans.com for updates.
