BETHLEHEM, Pa. -
Brent Maron scored 17 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 6 assists to lead Northampton to a 105-88 victory over Lehigh Carbon Community College in Region XIX men's basketball action on Tuesday night at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center.
Derek Kulp (Northampton) added 17 points on five 3-pointers and Jahbri Hargrove (Norristown) added 14 points, as Northampton improved to 8-2 overall, 6-0 in conference and 5-0 in Region XIX, with their 17th consecutive home victory.
"It was really a back and forth contest," commented first year mentor Mike Kaminski, "we got a couple pretty good leads, but LCCC fought back each time ... we actually did a fairly good job on DeJesus (the nation's leading scorer at 29.0ppg) holding him to 24, but Josh Brown just carved us up with 35. Obviously we still have work to do on the defensive end, but we are coming together offensively."
RJ Fletcher (Allen) added 9 points and 5 rebounds and leading scorer
Malcolm Lyles chipped in with 14.
LCCC falls to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in conference.
The Spartans, who have won five straight, return to the hardwood on Saturday when they travel to Bucks County Community College for a 2pm contest.
