NANTICOKE, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team jumped out to a 46-23 halftime lead and cruised to an 87-53 victory over Luzerne County Community College on Tuesday night in Region XIX action.
RJ Fletcher (Allen) and
Tyler Krchnavi (Palisades) each recorded double-doubles, with Fletcher scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while Krchnvai scored 16 points and hauled down 13 boards.
Astin Jones (Parkland) was 4 for 6 from 3-point territory and finished with 12 points and
Brent Maron (Salisbury) added 5 assists for NCC, which improved to 10-4 overall, 8-1 in conference and 7-1 in Region XIX.
"The players bought in tonight and did a great job executing the game plan," commented Northampton Head Coach Mike Kaminski, "defensively we did a nice job making Richard Gaines work for his points and we controlled the glass ... we will need to continue to execute, defend and rebound to defeat a tough Delaware County team on Thursday (8pm at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center)."
Luzerne County Community College fell to 0-14 overall and 0-9 in Region XIX.
