NANTICOKE, Pa. -
Katie Schickling set a Northampton record with eight 3-pointers to lead the Spartans to a 74-48 victory over Luzerne County Community College on Tuesday night at Sullivan Arena.
Schickling, who finished with 24 points, shattered the previous record of six 3-pointers in a game that she shared with Melanie Palko (2010).Â
Lacey LaRezza hauled down 19 rebounds,
Lauren Thompson had 12 points and
Brianna Morales added 16 points and 8 assists to lead the Northampton attack.
"Katie really shot the ball well tonight," remarked Head Coach
Art Wolfe, "when she is shooting like that, it really opens up things inside and we were able to take advantage of that tonight."
Northampton, which improves to 10-3 overall and 7-0 in Region XIX, hosts Delaware County Community College on Thursday night at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center. Game time is set for 6pm.
Luzerne falls to 4-11 overall and 2-5 in Region XIX.
NOTE:
* LaRezza's 19 rebounds are the 4th highest single game total in Northampton history.
