BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Malcolm Lyles put back an
Astin Jones miss with 0.5 seconds remaining to give Northampton a 73-72 victory on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center, snapping the Spartans three game losing streak.
"It was a much needed win," remarked Head Coach Mike Kaminski, "we had been struggling with our confidence the last couple of games, hopefully this will get us pointed back in the right direction."
Northampton, which led by as many as 11 in the second half, led 71-69 when Foster Burnes hit a long 3-pointer to give Johnson College a 72-71 lead before Lyles' heroics.
Lyles led Northampton with 17 points, while
RJ Fletcher added 15 points and 8 rebounds.
Northampton, which improves to 11-7 overall and 9-4 in conference, travels to defending national champion Brookdale Community College on Tuesday to face the #1 ranked Jersey Blues.
Johnson College falls to 9-15 overall and 3-8 in conference.
