LINCROFT, NJ - In a rematch of last season's Region XIX title game, Brookdale Community College showed why they are the #1 ranked team in the country, defeating Northampton 100-61 at Collins Arena on Sunday night.
Brookdale jumped out to a 48-29 halftime advantage and never looked back in winning their 21st consecutive game this season to improve to 21-0.Â
Quardiar Sewell scored a team-high 13 points for Northampton, while
Derek Kulp and
RJ Fletcher each added 11.
"They are number one for a reason," remarked NCC mentor Mike Kaminski, "they are very impressive on both ends of the court, they are well-coached and they play hard."
The loss drops Northampton to 11-8 overall (7-4 Region XIX), while Brookdale stays perfect at 21-0.
The Spartans make the short trek to Berrier Hall at Lehigh Carbon Community College on Thursday to face the Cougars at 8pm.
