Big Second Half Leads 4th Ranked Brookdale Over Northampton

LINCROFT, NJ - The 4th ranked Brookdale Jersey Blues outscored Northampton 42-19 in the second half to break open a close contest and earn a 72-50 victory on Tuesday night at Collins Arena.

Northampton, which led 31-30 at halftime, played without second leading scorer Katie Schickling (13.0ppg) who was out with a knee injury.

"I thought we played very well in the first half," commented Head Coach Art Wolfe, "we really battled, but when Brookdale switched to a zone in the second half we just were not able to knock down shots, especially with Katie on the bench.  Brookdale is very talented and their size was just too much for us, but I was very happy with our effort tonight."

Brianna Morales scored 15 points and dished out 4 assists, Lauren Thompson had 14 points and Lacey LaRezza pulled down a team high 12 rebounds to lead NCC.

Chawntell Jeffrey just missed a double-double, finishing with 10 points and 9 rebounds in what Coach Wolfe described as, "a great effort."

The loss drops Northampton to 12-5 overall while Brookdale improves to 20-2.

Northampton returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Schnecksville to face Lehigh Carbon in a Region XIX matchup at Berrier Hall at 6pm.
