Defense Leads Men's Basketball to Victory over Luzerne

NANTICOKE, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball snapped a three-game losing streak with a 65-40 victory over Luzerne County Community College on Tuesday night, in the EPAC opener for both teams.

"I was really happy with our defensive intensity today," remarked Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "I thought we did a better job communicating and limiting Luzerne to one shot."  The Spartans, who lead from start to finish, where led by Justin Escobar (4 steals) with 18 points on 9 for 12 shooting and Tyrin Granthan with 16 points. Derek Kulp had 8 rebounds and 5 assists, while Jamaal Aziz added 10 points and a team-high 6 assists. 

Northampton, now 2-3 overall and 1-0 in Region XIX, returns to action on Saturday when they travel to the Community College of Philadelphia for a 2pm contest.


Luzerne falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in Region XIX.
