Women's Basketball Opens Conference Play with Victory

NANTICOKE, Pa. - The Northampton women's basketball team opened conference play on Tuesday night with a convincing 79-34 victory over Luzerne County Community College at Sullivan Arena.

Nicole Amann scored 13 points, dished out 5 assists and recorded 4 steals and Asia Morton hauled down 8 rebounds to pace the Spartans.

"Always nice to get a road win in conference play," stated Head Coach Art Wolfe, "Luzerne is a tough place to play, their crowd is very vocal, so you need to be focused and I thought we did a good job tonight of staying within ourselves and letting the game come to us."

Northampton, now 3-3 overall and 1-0 in Region XIX, returns to the road on Saturday when they travel to Philadelphia to face conference newcomer Community College of Philadelphia at noon.

Luzerne falls to 0-1 with the loss.
