Women's Basketball Moves to 2-0 in Region with Victory over Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Veteran Head Coach Art Wolfe made a defensive adjustment at halftime and it propelled the Northampton women's basketball team to a 71-29 victory over the Community College of Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon.

Despite leading 31-17 at halftime, Wolfe made the switch to a 2-3 zone at the break after giving up 13 of the 17 points on penetration to the rim, "We were having trouble stopping their dribble penetration," commented Wolfe, "I thought the zone would give us a better opportunity to close off the lanes and make them beat us from the outside."

The move worked, as Northampton only allowed 12 second half points, en route to outscoring Philadelphia by 28 points in the second half.

Nicole Amann scored 16 points and Zeniyah Sanders added 10.  Amber Farnholtz led Northampton on the backboards, grabbing 9 rebounds, while Julia Craig added 10 assists.

Northampton, now 4-3 overall and 2-0 in Region XIX, returns to the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center on Tuesday night as they host Montgomery County Community College at 5pm.

Philadelphia falls to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in Region XIX.
