Spartans Capture Morris "Turkey Hoopshoot" Championship

RANDOLPH, NJ - The Northampton women's basketball team captured the 2014 County College of Morris "Turkey Hoopshoot" Championship on Sunday afternoon, downing Rowan College @ Gloucester County, 54-45.

Tournament MVP Nicole Amann scored 20 points and All-Tournament selection Dominique Oyeniyi added 12 to pace Northampton.

The Spartans only allowed an average of 47 points per game during the tournament, holding Division II Orange County Community College to 49 points on Saturday and the Roadrunners to 45 on Sunday, "No question our defense was the for us in winning this tournament," commented Head Coach Art Wolfe, "we did a pretty could job today, except for that one stretch (a 12-0 RCGC run), but now it's time to prepare for Harrisburg on Tuesday."

Zeniyah Sanders added 7 rebounds as Northampton improved to 7-3 overall.  The Spartans return to conference play on Tuesday night when they host Harrisburg Area Community College at 6pm at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center.
