Spartans Struggle, but Rally to Down Pesky Harrisburg

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Julia Craig's 3-point play with just over 5 minutes remaining gave Northampton its first lead of the game at 46-44 and propelled the Spartans to a 58-50 victory over a scrappy Harrisburg team on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

Northampton, which trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half, was led by Lauren Thompson with 12 points, 8 assists and 4 steals, while Dominique Oyeniyi and Craig each chipped in with 10 points.  Asia Morton pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds.

"We seemed a step slow coming off this weekend's tournament," remarked Head Coach Art Wolfe, "but credit Harrisburg, they played very hard and made us work for everything we got."

The win moves Northampton to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in Region XIX.  The Spartans are now 24-0 all-time in Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) play.

Harrisburg falls to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in Region XIX.

The Spartans are now off until December 2nd when they travel to Schnecksville, PA to face conference rival Lehigh Carbon Community College at 6pm.
