Lackawanna College Too Much for Northampton

SCRANTON, Pa. - Division II Lackawanna College proved to be too much for the Northampton women's basketball team on Thursday night, downing the Spartans 74-49 at the Lackawanna Student Union.

"We had no answer for them," remarked Head Coach Art Wolfe, "nothing we did seemed to slow them down ... they are very talented, but we obviously need to improve in some areas if we want to achieve our goals."

Sophomore Lauren Thompson scored 10 points and Nicole Amann added 11 to lead the Spartans, while Zeniyah Sanders (8) and Dominique Oyeniyi (7) combined to grab 15 rebounds.

Northampton, which falls to 1-2 overall, returns to action on Saturday at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center when they host Middlesex County College at 12pm in the first round of the Northampton Tip-Off Tournament.

Lackawanna improves to 2-1 with the victory.
