Women's Basketball Advances to Championship with 67-57 Victory

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's basketball team used an 11-1 run over the last four minutes of the game to break a 56-56 deadlock and defeat Middlesex County College, 67-57, in the first round of the Northampton Tip-Off Tournament.

Tied 39-39 at halftime, the Spartans locked down on defense, holding the Colts to only 18 second half points.  "We were able to do a better job stopping Pearyer," commented Head Coach Art Wolfe, "once we stopped the penetration, we were able to get some stops defensively."

Julia Craig led Northampton with 19 points, while Dominique Oyeniyi had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Spartans, now 2-2 overall, will face Niagara County Community College in Sunday's championship game at 1pm.  The Thunder Wolves downed the County College of Morris, 84-53, in the other first round matchup.
