County College of Morris Downs Spartans in Consolation Game

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The County College of Morris used 14 3-point field goals to down Northampton, 92-81, on Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Northmapton Tip-Off Tournament.  

"Morris really shot the ball well today," commented Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "while we still have room to improve defensively, I felt that we did a decent job contesting most of their outside shots, but they knocked them down with a hand in their face."

The Spartans, who trailed by many as 16 in the second half, cut it to 10 (86-76) with 2:28 remining in the contest, but Morris was able to hang on for the 11-point victory.

Tyrin Grantham led Northampton with 26 points, while Justin Escobar added 17 and Derek Kulp 10.

Ricky Holiday led the Titans (1-1) with 27 points, including 5 trifectas.

Northampton opens up Region XIX play on Tuesday when they travel to Luzerne County Community College to face the Trailblazers at 8pm.
