Offense Struggles in Loss to Lehigh Carbon

SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team saw their two-game winning streak snapped with a 61-41 loss to Lehigh Carbon Community College on Tuesday evening at Berrier Hall.

The Spartans struggled all night offensively, shooting a paltry 25% (16 for 63) as a team.  "We never really got on track offensively," commented Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "we struggled against their zone and every time we got within 8 or 9, they would hit a big shot.  I thought our defense played well, bottom line we just did not put the ball in the basket."  After jumping out to an early 10-4 lead five minutes into the game, Northampton only managed 31 points over the final 35 minutes.

Justin Escobar led Northampton with 11 points and 9 rebounds, while Derek Kulp added 8 points and 7 boards.  Brandon Schlosser added 6 points, shooting 2 for 5 from behind the arc.

The loss drops Northampton to 4-6 overall and 3-3 in Region XIX.

The Spartans are scheduled to return to action on Saturday at Widener University vs. Delaware County Community College, however there is potential that the game time and/or location may be changed ... please stay tuned to nccspartans.com for the latest updates.

Lehigh Carbon improves to 5-6 overall and 3-3 in Region XIX.
