CHESTER, Pa. - Trailing 76-68 with just over 5 minutes remaining, Northampton went cold down the stretch and Delaware's Dominick Owens scored 21 of his 25 in the second half as DCCC prevailed in Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action, 93-74, on Saturday afternoon at Widener University.
"Give Delaware credit," stated Head Coach Mike Kaminski, "they deserve to be the conference champs, they are very athletic and they play with a high energy for all 40 minutes."
Malcolm Lyles and Quardiar Sewell each scored 13 points to lead Northampton, while
Astin Jones and
Robert Purnell-Joe each chipped in with 11.
The loss drops Northampton to 13-10 overall, 8-6 in Region XIX and 10-6 in conference play.
Delaware improves to 23-4 overall, 13-0 in Region XIX and 14-0 in conference play.
Northampton returns to the hardwood on Thursday night when they host the Community College of Philadelphia at 8pm as part of the "Northampton White-Out" that evening.
