Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Opens Second Semester with Victory

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -  The Northampton men's basketball team opened the second semester with a convincing 72-49 victory over Luzerne County Community College on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center, improving to 7-7 overall and 6-4 in Region XIX.

The Spartans shot 46.7% (28/60) for the game, including a 10 for 24 performance (41.7%) from behind the arc and outrebounded the Trailblazers 38-22 to get back to .500 overall.

Josh Coleman (18) led four Spartans in double figures, finishing 6 of 9 from the field.  Joining Coleman in double-digits were Jeremiah Coleman (15), Derek Kulp (14) and Michael Samuel (10).  Josh Kaiser grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds in his first game back from injury and Justin Escobar dished out a season-high 7 assists.

"Overall good effort for our first game in a month," remarked Spartan mentor Brennan McCarthy, "I liked the ball movement on offense and I thought we did a good limiting them to one shot on the defensive end."

The Spartans continue their homestand on Thursday night January 15th when they host Stevens Tech at 7pm at the Scott Center.

Luzerne falls to 4-12 overall and 3-7 in Region XIX.
