Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stevens Tech Outlasts Spartans, 69-63

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Stevens Tech grabbed the lead with 17 minutes remaining in the first half and never looked back in downing Northampton on Thursday night, 69-63, at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

Denzel Williams scored 26 points, shooting 9 for 14 from the field and 8 for 14 from the line, to lead the Bulldogs (5-8), who led by as many as 13 in the second half.

"Bottom line is that we allowed Stevens to shoot 46% from the field tonight," quipped Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "we gave up 50 points in the paint and 18 points off turnovers ... it's tough to do that and come out with a W."

Justin Esocbar grabbed 12 rebounds and Jeremiah Coleman had 13 points to pace the Spartan attack.  Esobar added 4 assists, while Michael Samuel scored 11 points, including a 6 for 6 showing at the charity stripe.

Northampton, now 7-8 overall and 6-5 in Region XIX, returns to action on Saturday when they host nationally-ranked Community College of Philadelphia at 12pm.

NOTE - Saturday's game vs. Philadelphia has been moved to a noon start.
