Women's Basketball Falls to Middlesex

EDISON, NJ - Middlesex County College used a 26-2 run over the last 8:30 of the first half to turn a 25-15 deficit into 41-27 halftime lead and held off Northampton in the second half to earn a 76-63 victory on Tuesday night in Region XIX women's basketball action.

"We knew coming in that Middlesex was very good," commented Head Coach Art Wolfe, "we had a great game with them earlier this year (a 67-57 Northampton victory on November 8th) and tonight was a very good game except for those 8 minutes ... Middlesex really took it to us and we didn't respond."

Nicole Amann led Northampton with 20 points, while Amber Farnholtz added 13.  Asia Morton grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked 8 shots and Julia Craig dished out 9 assists and recorded 4 steals.

The Spartans fall to 10-5 overall and 6-1 in Region XIX with the loss.

Middlesex improves to 13-3 overall and 9-2 in Region XIX.

Northampton returns to the hardwood on Thursday night, January 15th, when they host NJCAA Division II Manor College at 5pm at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
