Poor Shooting Dooms Spartans in Loss to Manor College

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's basketball team shot 20% from the field (12/59) and 53% from the line (8/15) in a 69-38 loss to NJCAA Division II Manor College on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

Nicole Amann scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds and Asia Morton had a team-high 11 rebounds to pace the Spartans.

"Give Manor credit, their defense was outstanding, we really struggled trying to solve their zone," commented Head Coach Art Wolfe, "I can't remember the last time we shot that poorly and then add in 28 turnovers and you have the recipe for a 31 point loss."

Dominique Williams led the Blue Jays with 20 points as Manor finished with 46 points in the paint.

Manor (10-3 overall) jumped out to a 30 to 16 halftime lead, thanks in part to Northampton's 6 for 31 shooting performance (19%) in the 1st half.

The loss drops Northampton to 10-6 overall.

The Spartans return to action on Tuesday January 20th when they travel to Montgomery County Community College for a 6pm tip.

NOTE - Saturday's game vs. the Community College of Philadelphia has been cancelled.
