BLUE BELL, Pa. -
Josh Coleman scored 19 points to lead a Northampton comeback, which fell just short, as Montgomery County Community College outlasted the Spartans, 74-70, on Tuesday evening at Bach Arena.
Northampton, which fell behind by 14 at halftime (39-25), rallied in the second half behind a strong rebounding effort from
Jeremiah Coleman (11 rebounds) and
Derek Kulp (8).
Justin Escobar added 14 points and 5 assists and
Brandon Schlosser finished with 11 points, including a 3 for 6 effort from behind the arc.
"We didn't handle Montgomery's pressure very well in the first half," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we struggled to find the open man and we started rushing things ... I thought we did a much better job in the second half once we settled down and played our game ... unfortunately we dug ourselves too deep of a hole in the first half."
The Spartans finished 29 of 61 from the field and 13 of 17 from the charity stripe.
The loss drops Northampton to 7-10 overall, 6-7 in Region XIX and 6-7 in conference play.
Montgomery improves to 9-8 overall, 9-6 in Region XIX and 8-4 in conference.
