Escobar's Triple-Double leads Northampton Over Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Justin Escobar recorded a triple-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to lead Northampton to a 82-67 victory over Harrisburg Area Community College on Tuesday evening in Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference men's basketball action.

The Spartans, who shot 50% from the field (33 of 66), jumped out to a 10 point halftime advantage thanks to a strong defensive effort, "We had really good defensive energy in the first half," commented Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "the guys worked hard on the defensive end and we were able to get some good looks offensively."

Derek Kulp had a big night for the Spartans, finishing with 25 points and 15 rebounds, "Derek had a great night," stated McCarthy, "he had confidence in his shot (10 for 15) and attacked the boards hard." Josh Coleman added 11 points and Josh Kaiser hauled down 9 rebounds for Northampton.

The victory improves Northampton to 8-10 overall, 7-7 in Region XIX and 7-7 in conference play.

Harrisburg falls to 3-15 overall, 3-12 in Region XIX and 3-10 in conference play.

Northampton returns to the hardwood on Thursday when they host Ocean County College at the Arthur L. Scott Center at 7pm.
