Spartans Stay Unbeaten in Conference Play with 76-63 Victory Over Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Lauren Thompson scored 24 points and had 5 steals to lead the Northampton women's basketball team to a 76-63 road victory over Harrisburg Area Community College on Tuesday evening at the Hawk's Nest Coliseum.

Northampton led 60-59 with 4 minutes remaining in regulation, when Head Coach Art Wolfe turned up the defensive pressure, leading to 4 steals as the Spartans increased their lead to 13 and held on for the victory.  "Harrisburg played very well," commented Wolfe, "we were able to turn up the defensive pressure the last four minutes to give us a little spark and allow us to pull away for the win."

Julia Craig added 19 points, while Nicole Amann had 13 points and 8 assists.  Paige Priestas hauled down 10 rebounds to lead Northampton on the boards.

Northampton, now 14-6 overall and 6-0 in conference, hosts Ocean County College on Thursday at 5pm.

Harrisburg falls to 7-7 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
