BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team fought back from a 9-point second half deficit to earn an 82-80 victory over Luzerne County Community College on Tuesday night at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Trailblazers, who led by 5 at the half, extended their lead to 9 early in the second stanza before the Spartans were able to cut the deficit, hitting six 3-pointers and creating transition baskets off their defense. The Spartans led by six with under a minute to play, but Luzerne would not go away, battling back before
Edwin Lopez (East Stroudsburg, PA /Stroudsburg ) hit two clutch free throws with under 2 seconds to play to clinch the victory.
Bryson Walton (Allentown, PA /William Allen ) led the Spartans with 15 points, while Lopez finished with 12.
Northampton, now 3-1 overall, travels to Philadelphia on Saturday to face CCP at 3:00pm.
