Comeback Falls Short as Men's Basketball Topped by Camden

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team cut a 20 point halftime deficit to 5 with under five minutes to play, but Camden County was able to make a couple big defensive stops and convert free throws down the stretch to earn a 72-58 victory on Thursday night at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

The Spartans shot a paltry 18% from the field in the first half (4 for 22) in falling behind 37-17 at the break, "We really struggled to find the rim during the first 20 minutes," remarked Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "we got frustrated defensively and got out of rhythm on the offensive end."

Juan Perez-Jones (Morrisville, PA /Pennsbury ) led Northampton with 15 points, D'Montie Shaw (York, PA/William Penn ) added 12 points and 6 rebounds and Tyerell Mann (East Stroudsburg, PA /Notre Dame - East Stroudsburg ) scored 11 points.

The loss drops Northampton to 5-5 overall and 3-5 in Region XIX.

Camden improves to 5-3 overall and 4-3 in Region XIX.

The Spartans return to conference play on Saturday when they host Delaware County Community College at 1pm.
