SCRANTON, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team snapped their two-game losing streak with a 69-52 victory over Johnson College on Tuesday evening at Jaguar Arena.
D'Montie Shaw (York, PA/William Penn ) scored 17 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 5 assists and
Justin Kellman (Reading, PA/Reading ) added 12 points and 8 rebounds as the Spartans used a strong defensive effort to down the Jaguars. "Great defensive effort across the board tonight," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we were able to defend the ball and contest every shot."
Bryson Walton (Allentown, PA /William Allen ) had 7 assists and 7 rebounds and
Eriq Washington (Philadelphia, PA/Mastery Charter ) added 11 points and 7 rebounds.
"We still need to do a better job taking care of the ball," echoed McCarthy, "we struggled a little against their zone and we didn't shoot particulary well, but if we can continue to play with the same intensity on the defensive end, we will be able to compete."
The victory moves Northampton to 6-6 overall, 4-6 in Region XIX and 4-4 in conference play.
Johnson falls to 1-10 overall, 1-9 in Region XIX and 1-6 in conference.
Northampton returns to action on Saturday when they host EPAC rival Bucks County Community College at noon at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
