League-Leading Cumberland Tops Northampton with Strong Second Half

VINELAND, NJ - League-leading Cumberland County College outscored Northampton 49-32 in the second half to earn an 81-60 victory on Saturday afternoon at Gorman Hall in a key Region XIX women's basketball match-up.

The Dukes, who improved to 22-1 overall with the victory, look like a lock to capture the #1 seed for the upcoming Region XIX Tournament, "They are very talented," remarked Head Coach Art Wolfe, "they are outstanding shooters and are extremely quick ... we struggled defensively on how to handle them."

Nicole Amann led Northampton with 17 points and Lauren Thompson added 13.

Northampton ends the regular season with an overall record of 18-8, 10-3 in Region XIX and 8-0 in conference.

The Spartans will find our their seed, opponent and game date/time on February 18th.
