Volleyball Receives Votes in NJCAA Preseason Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. - The Northampton Volleyball team received votes in the 2015 NJCAA Division III preseason poll, released today by the national office. The Spartans return two starters from the 2014 squad, which finished with a 37-2 record, capturing their third consecutive Region XIX championship and third straight EPAC title.

"Our program has high expectations," commented Head Coach Adrian Yaguez, "while we have had some success the last 4 seasons, we want to continue to improve and work toward becoming a national championship caliber team." Since taking over the program prior to the 2011 season, Yaguez has guided the Spartans to an amazing 109-6 record, including a trip to the NJCAA national tournament in 2013.

The Spartans open the 2015 campaign on September 5th and 6th when they host the Northampton Tournament of Champions, featuring Monroe Community College (Rochester, NY), Fashion Institute of Technology (New York, NY), Ocean County College (Toms River, NJ) and Sandhills Community College (Pinehurst, NC). "The field for this tournament is incredible," remarked Yaguez, "all five teams are ranked in their respective District preseason rankings and three of the teams are listed in the NJCAA preseason national poll - Monroe (9th), FIT (10th) and Northampton (RV). We will find out very quickly where we stand ... it is going to be a great weekend of volleyball."
