BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's basketball team won the program's 100th Region XIX game with a 78-50 victory over Harrisburg Area Community College on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans jumped out to an early 29-7 lead and never looked back, growing the margin to 37 with 3:47 remaining in the game. Â All eight Spartans in uniform scored, led by
Dom Moser (Easton, PA/Easton ) with 20,
Katie Alvarez (Allentown, PA /Dieruff) 15,
Deana McKeller (East Stroudsburg, PA/E. Stroudsburg South) 14 and
Nakia Rogers (Bushkill, PA/E. Stroudsburg North ) 13.
Northampton dominated the backboards, outrebounding the Hawks 53-16, and forcing them into 23 turnovers and 29.6% shooting from the field.Â
McKeller had a team-high 13 rebounds, while Moser added 9 rebounds and 9 assists.
Northampton, ranked 10th in the country in the latest NJCAA poll, improves to 9-2 overall and 8-0 in Region XIX.Â
Harrisburg falls to 3-6 on the season.
Northampton, which joined the NJCAA and Region XIX in the 2009-10 season improved to 100-19 (84%) all-time in Region XIX and 90-9 (91%) after the inaugural 10-10 season.Â
The Spartans will end the first semester on Saturday when they host Bucks County Community College at 12pm.Â
