BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team utilized their revamped up-tempo offense to run past Lehigh Carbon Community College on Thursday night, downing the Cougars 96-82 at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Jerrel Burke (Morrisville, PA/Pennsbury ) scored 31 points and dished out 7 assists,
Tyerell Mann (East Stroudsburg, PA /Notre Dame - East Stroudsburg ) added 30 points and
Edwin Lopez (East Stroudsburg, PA /Stroudsburg ) had 12 points and 11 assists as the Spartans shot 53% for the game and had 25 assists on 36 field goals. Â
Northampton, which is averaging 104.5 ppg after coming back from break, took their largest lead at 20, with 2:47 remaining in the contest. Â "We are playing well offensively right now," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we made a conscious effort to speed up our tempo a little, and right now it seems to be paying dividends."
The win moves Northampton to 9-7 overall, 7-4 in Region XIX and 7-3 in EPAC play.Â
Lehigh Carbon falls to 9-13 overall, 9-6 in Region XIX and 9-4 in conference play.Â
The Spartans return to the hardwood on Saturday when they host Ocean County College (10-7 overall) at 2pm.Â
