HARRISBURG, Pa. - Sophomore
Jerrel Burke (Morrisville, PA/Pennsbury ) scored 34 points to help lead the Northampton men's basketball team to a 77-66 victory over Harrisburg Area Community College on Tuesday evening at the Hawks Nest.
The Spartans, who improved to 4-1 since returning from semester break, put four players in double figures, including
Tyerell Mann (East Stroudsburg, PA /Notre Dame - East Stroudsburg ) with 13,
Justin Kellman (Reading, PA /Reading ) 11 and
Isiah Hinton-Gray (Allentown, PA/William Allen ) with 10.
"I thought we stepped up our defensive effort tonight," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we weren't quite as balanced offensively as we have been, but Jerrel had a good offensive game and we were able to exploit some mismatches."
The season sweep of the Hawks moves Northampton to 11-8 overall, 9-5 in Region XIX and 9-3 in the EPAC.
Harrisburg falls to 9-13 overall, 7-8 in Region XIX and 7-8 in conference play.
The Spartans return to the friendly confines of the Arthur L. Scott Center on Thursday when they host Stevens Tech at 7pm.
