LANCASTER, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team ran their record to 5-0 overall with a 108-85 victory over Thaddeus Stevens College on Tuesday night at the Metzler Center.
Carlos Gutierrez (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) and
Isiah Hinton-Gray (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) each scored 21 points to lead five Spartans in double-figures, as Northampton shot a blistering 52% from the field.
Jay Davis (Northwest, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) had 20 points,

David Williams (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom ) 11.
Hinton-Gray added a team-high 17 rebounds, while Williams hauled down 12 boards as the Spartans out-rebounded Stevens 55-40.
"Offensively, I thought we played pretty well," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "the guys did a good job finding the open man (30 assists on 43 field goals) and we were able to get some good looks at the rim and convert. Defensively, our effort in the second half was not at the level I would have liked, but in the end we got a conference road victory over a good opponent."
Lewis added 6 assists and Hinton-Gray was credited with 5.
The win moves Northampton to 5-0 overall, 3-0 in Region XIX and 2-0 in conference play.
Stevens falls to 1-5 overall, 1-1 in Region XIX and 1-1 in the EPAC.
The Spartans are back in action on Thursday as they travel to cross-town rival Lehigh Carbon Community College for an EPAC showdown at the Cougar Dome. Tip-time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
