HARRISBURG, Pa. - Trailing by 12 at halftime, 48-36, the Northampton Men's Basketball team's perfect record looked to be in jeopardy ... but the Spartans responded, outscoring Harrisburg Area Community College 61-41 in the second half to earn a 97-89 victory and move to 10-0 on the season.
Jay Davis (Northwest, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) scored 25 points and dished out 7 assists and
David Williams (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom ) had 19 points and a team-high 10 rebounds as the Spartans overcame some sloppy play and 11 3-pointers from the Hawks.
"We struggled early," stated Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "I'm obviously not happy with the 28 turnovers, but I am proud of how the guys fought back and overcame some adversity to earn a good road win in a tough setting."
Arnel Lewis (Easton, Pa. /Easton) added 15 points and 5 assists and
Isiah Hinton-Gray (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) had 13 points and 8 rebounds as the Spartans held a slim 39-35 advantage on the boards.
The Spartans shot 55% for the game (37/67), while holding Harrisburg to 38% (30/79).
Northampton improves to 10-0 overall, 7-0 in Region XIX and 6-0 in conference.
Harrisburg falls to 6-4 overall, 6-2 in Region XIX and 6-2 in the EPAC.
The Spartans will host NJCAA Division II County College of Morris on Thursday at
6:00pm.
