Box Score NANTICOKE, Pa. - 12 of 13 players in uniform scored at least one point as the Northampton men's basketball team downed Luzerne County Community College, 114-74, on Tuesday evening at the Trailblazer Center.
Jay Davis (Northwest, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led the Spartans with 29 points and added 9 rebounds and 5 assists, while
Carlos Gutierrez (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) finished with 16 points and 5 assists.
"Overall I'm very pleased with our performance tonight," remarked Northampton mentor
Brennan McCarthy, "we shot 50% from the field, had 31 assists, were 25 on the boards and held them to 30% shooting from the field."
Isiah Hinton-Gray (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) added 12 points and 16 rebounds, while
Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, Pa. /Harrisburg) just missed his second consecutive double-double, finishing with 9 points and 10 boards.
Northampton, ranked 3rd in the latest ECBWA rankings, improves to 14-2 overall, 10-1 in Region XIX and 8-1 in the EPAC.
Luzerne falls to 6-15 overall, 4-10 in Region and 4-6 in conference play.
Northampton is now 13-1 all-time vs. Luzerne.
The Spartans head to Blue Bell, PA on Thursday to face Montgomery County Community College at 7pm. The Spartans won the first match-up between the two conference foes, 126-72 on November 30th at the Spartan Center.
