BLUE BELL, Pa. - On a night when the shots weren't falling for the Northampton men's basketball team, they could still rely on their defense to lead them to an 86-49 victory over Montgomery County Community College on Thursday evening at the Mustang Events Center.
The Spartans, who led 48-20 at intermission, shot only 37% (32 of 89) from the field and 53% from the line (15 of 28), but held Montgomery to only 29% from the field and outrebounded their hosts 67 to 38.
"We left a lot of points out there tonight," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "but once again our defense was able to carry us and provide us some opportunities to get some transition baskets."
Isiah Hinton-Gray (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) and
Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, Pa. /Harrisburg) led five players in double-figures with 16 points each, followed by
Arnel Lewis (Easton, Pa. /Easton) with 13,
Jay Davis (Northwest, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) 12 and
Tyrese Stewart (Allentown, Pa. /William Allen ) 12.
Hinton-Gray hauled down 13 boards, Barrett 12 and Stewart 8.
