PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team improved to 3-0 in Region XIX with a 74-50 victory over Delaware County Community College on Saturday afternoon at the Community College of Philadelphia.
The Spartans had four players in double-figures as they took a 35-19 lead to the locker room at intermission and coasted to the 24-point victory.
Nasir Scott (Elkins Park, PA/Boy's Latin of Philidelphia) and
Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) led Northampton with 14 points each, while
Karee Davis (Philadelphia, PA/Mastbaum) added 13 and
Ace Bibbs (Philadelphia, PA/Abington Friends) 10.
"Good road win for us," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "I thought we lacked a little energy in the second half, but I was really happy with our defensive intensity the first 20 minutes of the game."
Scott led the Spartans off the backboard with 10 rebounds, while Barrett added 7.
D'Andre Davis (York, PA/York Catholic) had a team-high 5 assists as the Spartans finished 33 of 69 from the floor.
The Spartans, now 3-2 overall, 3-0 in Region XIX and 3-0 in the EPAC, travel to Thaddeus Stevens College on Tuesday to face the Bulldogs at 7pm.
Delaware falls to 0-4 overall with the loss.
