BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team snapped their two-game losing streak with a 78-69 victory over Camden County College on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans pulled away from a 33-33 halftime deadlock, outscoring the Cougars 45-36 over the final 20 minutes to earn the win. "I'm very pleased with our defense tonight," remarked Northampton mentor
Brennan McCarthy, "Camden is well coached and play a very disciplined brand of basketball ... I thought our guys did a good job of stepping up and meeting the challenge tonight."
Jay Davis (Northwest, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) scored a season-high 35 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, while
Karee Davis (Philadelphia, PA/Mastbaum) added 16 points and 2 blocks for the Spartans.
In what was a very even game statistically, Northampton held a slim 34-33 advantage on the boards, but knocked down 7 more free throws than Camden.
D'Andre Davis (York, PA/York Catholic) dished out 4 assists and
Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) chipped in with 6 points and 6 rebounds, despite foul trouble.
The win moves Northampton to 5-5 overall and 5-3 in Region XIX.
Camden falls to 5-3 overall and 4-3 in Region XIX.
The Spartans host Montgomery County Community College (7-1) on Saturday at 2pm.
