BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Jay Davis (Northwest, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) scored a Northampton single-game record 46 points to help lead the Spartans to a 100-76 victory over Montgomery County Community College on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center. 

The Spartans jumped out to a 44-30 halftime lead by shooting 58% from the field (19/33), including five 3-pointers, while holding the Mustangs to just 32%. 

Northampton never trailed in the game, extending their lead to 30 with 9:25 remaining in the second half. 

"I thought our defense really gave us energy today," commented Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "we were able to force them into 16 turnovers (7 over their season average), out-rebound them by 20 and hold them to 39% shooting."

Nasir Scott (Elkins Park, PA/Boy's Latin of Philidelphia) had 13 points and D'Andre Davis (York, PA/York Catholic) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the Spartans, who shot 53% from the field for the game. 

Davis finished 17 of 32 from the field, including a 7 for 14 performance from behind the arc, and was 5 of 6 from the foul line in his record-setting performance, topping the previous mark of 44 points set by Ike Robinson back in December of 2010.  "I can't say enough about Jay tonight," remarked McCarthy, "he really deserved the record and I couldn't be happier for him."

Northampton improves to 6-5 overall, 6-3 in Region XIX and 5-2 in the EPAC. 

Montgomery falls to 8-3 overall, 6-3 in Region XIX and 4-3 in conference.

The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday when they host Lehigh Valley rival LCCC at 7pm.
