BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Montgomery County Community College used a 19-10 advantage in the 3rd quarter to erase a 5-point halftime deficit and held on to defeat Northampton, 55-49, in women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The contest was a defensive struggle between the two EPAC foes, as neither team shot above 30% from the field. Montgomery held a slight advantage on the boards, out-rebounding the Spartans 49-45.
"We let this slip away," commented Head Coach
Alyssa Bonenberger, "I think at times in the second half we got a little impatient and didn't run our sets and hurried some shots. Overall, our effort and execution continue to improve, but we still have a ways to go."
Kelsey Miller (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) led the Spartans with 17 points, including three 3-pointers,
Ashley Robinson (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) had 13 and

Briana Petersen (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg North) pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, followed by Robinson with 9.
The loss drops Northampton to 1-8 overall, 1-5 in Region XIX and 0-4 in the EPAC.
Montgomery improves to 5-4 overall, 4-1 in Region XIX and 4-0 in the EPAC.
The Spartans are back home on Tuesday when they host Lehigh Carbon Community College at 5pm.
