BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team put five players in double-figures, including four with over 20 points, as they routed Thaddeus Stevens College, 121-86 on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Jay Davis (Northwest, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led the quartet of 20-point scorers with 25, followed by
Carlos Gutierrez (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) with 24, and
Arnel Lewis (Easton, Pa. /Easton) and
Tyrese Stewart (Allentown, Pa. /William Allen ) each with 20.
The Spartans shot 55% from the field (50/91) and 47% from 3-point range (14/30) as they broke the century mark for the 8th time this season.
Isiah Hinton-Gray (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) finished with a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Stewart added 10 boards.
Lewis had a team-high 10 assists, as the Spartans finished with 32 assists on 50 field goals.
Northampton improves to 21-5 overall, 17-3 in Region XIX and finishes 14-2 in the EPAC.
Stevens, which had won 3 straight, falls to 7-16 overall, 5-10 in the Region and 5-10 in the conference.
The Spartans are now 13-2 all-time vs. the Bulldogs.
Northampton will be back in action on Saturday when they host the #1 ranked team in the country, as the Jersey Blues of Brookdale visit the Spartan Center. Game time is set for 2pm.
